Like I said, this is likely an unpopular opinion and there are definitely people in my network that are much more experienced in Tableau than me. The dashboard date filter is very rigid End-users can choose between a slider or range or predefined time periods. It's not integrated with git, which makes the QA review process really difficult. Natively the query engine does not work well with BigQuery partitions - there are some workarounds with calculated fields or custom SQL views as the source but this should be native. This creates risk that the same metric may be defined differently across data sources. I often see a bunch of published data sources, and if an analyst wants a new dashboard that may need new inputs or new measures, they just create a new data source. The way published "data sources" works and the ability for analysts to create new measures / metrics. Where Tableau typically fits in the data stack architecture - responsibility is often pushed to business teams to manage. ![]() It's a great alternative to Excel for a single Analyst to make reports and publish them. As a primarily Looker developer, I'm constantly jealous of some of the map features of multi-metric sizing/color coding and the way metric values show up on the map. The map viz options are truly the best in the industry. Being in the #analytics space, sometimes I really feel like this is an unpopular opinion. ![]()
